FUNimation Sets ‘Absolute Duo’ Anime Streaming Premiere FUNimation announced the pickup of Absolute Duo for simulcast this weekend but didn’t have any details on when they would be streaming it for North American audiences. The first episode was broadcast in Japan yesterday and is now set to stream today on their service at 1:00pm ET for their subscribers. Future episodse will stream three hours after they air in Japan, which will have them on Mondays at 1:00pm ET as well going forward.

The series is based on the light novels of the same name written by Takumi Hiiragi-boshi with artwork by Yuu Asaba. It’s set to be produced by studio 8Bit for the animation. The series has seen a manga adaptation already and the fifth volume of the light novel series came this spring and there’s a second manga spinoff as well. The series is being directed by Atsushi Nakayama based on scripts by Takamitsu Kouno and character designs by Keiichi Sano. Norie Takana is serving as the animation director for the series.

The cast for the series has been previously announced with Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Tōru Kokonoe, Nozomi Yamamoto as Yurie Sigtuna, Ayaka Suwa as Tomoe Tachibana, Ayaka Imamura as Miyabi Hotaka, Haruka Yamazaki as Lilith Bristol, Haruka Tomatsu as Imari Nagakura, Yukari Tamura as Rito Tsukimi, Yui Horie as Sakuya Tsukumo, Natsuki Hanae as Tora and Yoshihisa Kawahara as Tatsu.

Plot concept: After losing a loved one, Tooru Kokonoe enrolls at Kouryou Academy so as to gain a , a weapon that is his soul manifestation, for the sake of revenge. He was expecting a weapon… What he got was a shield… How is he to seek revenge with something that isn’t even a weapon?!
