It’s been a rough period for Fairy Tail fans when it comes to the anime adaptation as we’ve had a string of mixed quality episodes in terms of story since they’ve been doing standalone pieces for a bit. While we may have a bit more, word is coming down that the next big thing will be the adaptation of the Tartarusarc from the manga by Hiro Mashima. Mashima began this arc back in the fall of 2013 where it looks like it’ll have run about sixty chapters by the time all is said and done. That gives the anime a lot of material to work with, as the arc itself has come to a close as of today.
FUNimation has picked up the home video rights to the series and is finishing off the first anime series later this year. Kodansha Comics has been releasing the manga on an accelerated schedule for awhile now and has the forty-sixth volume set for release next week while this week sees the Japanese release of the forty-seventh volume, making it so that English speaking fans are mostly caught up on the book.
Series concept: The story follows a teenage girl named Lucy Heartfilla who is determined to join the notorious magical Fairy Tail Guild. During a daring rescue, she encounters Natsu who is part of the guild and eventually offers her a place. They become teammates performing various missions for the Fairy Tail Guild. Be prepared for an action-packed adventure!
