Muppets Advance On Twilight’s Box Office Receipts

Muppets Advance On Twilight’s Box Office Receipts The extended holiday weekend didn’t offer up a lot of surprises when it comes to box office revenue as the king of the heap remains as Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 held onto the spot, though it had a massive drop as is to be expected of such a front loaded film. The film nabbed the top spot with $42 million added to its run domestically and that kept it ahead of The Muppets, which brought in a hair under $30 million, but also did $45 million total worldwide, getting it to the break even point. This weekend saw the introduction of a lot of holiday/kids fare, which makes sense, since parents want to get out a bit and away from all the shopping and they had a few choices. Sony’s fun looking Arthur Christmas didn’t hold up well though, getting only the #4 spot, behind Happy Feet 2. The chart beyond that is pretty much as expected with the more adult oriented material and the positively received Hugo. But there are a few limited run features on just a couple hundred screens that raked in big, big bucks per showing that film fans will want to keep an eye on.
