Plot concept: Based on the light novel by Tsutomu Sato, The irregular at magic high school is set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual.
Tatsuya Shiba and his sister Miyuki Shiba begin their first day at the National Magic University Affiliated First High School. Students are divided into their classes by their test scores. Students with the best grades are sorted into the First Course, the “Bloom” class while students with poor test score are designated as “Weeds” and placed in the Second Course. Miyuki who scored the top of her entrance exam is chosen as the class rep while Tatsuya, despite having the best score on the written exam, scored poorly in the practical exam and is placed in the Second Course.
