Hip, Stylish, Modern Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot at the W Hotel Scottsdale

As soon as I saw the the wedding bouquet wrapped in zippers and the hot pink spray painted succulents (not to mention beautiful photography!) I knew this was a wedding inspiration photo shoot I would love! Phoenix based photographer Melissa Jill and the event planning team from Outstanding Occasions joined with an all-start group of wedding professionals to create this photo shoot filled with modern wedding ideas and looks, and we’re smitten with so much of it. Thanks for sharing your hard work ladies!

Hip, Stylish, Modern Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot at the W Hotel Scottsdale

From photographer Melissa Jill Photography : The W Scottsdale was the backdrop for this modern inspiration shoot depicting the contrast between masculine and feminine details. White, grey and black were the main colors with a pop of pink. We created a story to go along with our design concept for the photo shoot: Tori, an interior designer and fashionista from LA, met Tyson, a quirky, Arizona guy who grew up riding horses.

The bride wore a full, pocketed WTOO wedding gown with a sweetheart neckline from Mariee Gallery . Camelback Flowershop designed a soft grey bouquet with a zipper detail. This ceremony look was accessorized with a punch of color in the necklace by Laura Eva Designs and the stunning earrings and ring were from Emmaquist . The groom wore a black and white jacket, a gingham shirt and black satin bow tie and black pants along with some black glasses to add some quirkiness. He also wore a soft grey boutonniere that coordinated with the bride’s bouquet. For the reception, the bride’s Matthew Christopher Dahlia dress was fitted and feminine and was accessorized with gorgeous Chanel shoes . The groom changed to a polka dot tie and black silk pocket square with a boutonniere to match.

The invitation suite designed by Idieh Design incorporated hounds tooth, plaid and other patterns as well as leather details. The “escort cards” were actually planted succulents spray-painted pink and small terra-cotta pots painted black. We added the handwritten names and table numbers in white. Camelback Flowershop looped leather, fabric and ribbon with white carnations to create a pattern in the mirror piece and the white lacquer horse that we spray-painted added in the groom’s love of horses in a modern way. The three amazing cakes from Classic Cakes and Confections also incorporated the hounds tooth, pinstripe and plaid masculine details, and donut pops and glazed donuts with chocolate, caramel and sprinkle toppings provided by The Donut Shoppe.

Bridal Market – Angel Sanchez 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

Bridal Market – Angel Sanchez 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

When I was in New York last month for Bridal Market, one of my favorite events was the Angel Sanchez show, for oh-so-many reasons. Get ready for my fashion geek-out…

For starters, the show was at the Angel Sanchez showroom which I got to explore fully last year when we covered the “behind the scenes” of their presentation for our Bridal Market Fashion Report . From the sleek modern entrance to the incredible workroom in the back where dresses are dreamed up and constructed with such care, everything about their showroom is a treat to see. Mr. Sanchez himself is a dream – stylish, handsome, incredibly kind, and downright overflowing with creativity, he’s one of those people that just draws you in like a magnet. I fully and gleefully admit to my fashion crush on him. And the dresses – now we’re talking! Angel’s work is like no other. Each piece combines angular architecture with feminine softness and always has a an element of surprise. This year’s wedding dress collection felt sexy and sophisticated as it strutted down the runway, and when the dresses began coming out in the palest and prettiest pink I’ve ever seen, I swear I gasped out loud. Beautiful and brilliant Mr. Sanchez and team! Thank you for your fashion forward wedding looks, and for welcoming me into your world.

Lilac and Gray Santa Barbara Wedding at Bacara Resort – Christine and Steve

Lilac and Gray Santa Barbara Wedding at Bacara Resort – Christine and Steve

After a whirlwind surprise proposal in Maui, Christine and Steve planned a wedding that was filled with love, joy and gratitude for family and friends. I adore the way they balanced their priorities and hosted an event that was as stunningly beautiful as it was meaningful. It’s a treat to look at these wonderful photos from photographer Yvette Roman , and to read about how they approached their wedding planning with the team at La Fete Weddings !

The Goals: “Our most important priority for our wedding day was to be surrounded by loved ones. We envisioned an intimate celebration so we could truly appreciate the experience with our family and friends.” The world-class venue Bacara Resort & Spa allowed Christine and Steve to host an intimate wedding with 65 of their closest loved ones, while experiencing the very best aspects of stunning Santa Barbara. What a location!

The Design: Old Hollywood glamour was the inspiration for their wedding theme, and because of Christine’s love of Chanel they incorporated the designer’s classic looks into different elements of the reception. Wedding colors of lilac and gray were chosen because lilac was Christine’s mother’s favorite color and Christine grew up with a lilac tree outside her bedroom window. Wedding planner Colette Lopez and her team at La Fete Weddings worked with the wonderful florist Camilla Couture Floral & Event Design to create an atmosphere that was glamorous, soft and romantic. Wedding invitations and logo were created by Tracy from Lazaro Press & Design , and a square wedding cake with the signature Chanel quilted look and camellia flowers was created by the culinary team at Bacara Resort & Spa . Guests danced the night away to the unique performaces of 11H Entertainment , and took home wedding favors of Shutterbooth photo booth photos, and yummy cupcakes decorated to represent things that Christine and Steve love.

The Look: Christine wanted a bridal look that was understated and elegant, and that complimented her petite frame. The Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier trumpet cut gown she chose was simply exquisite and made her feel as though she were “wearing a piece of art.” Christine and Steve each had one attendant standing with them, along with a junior bridesmaid, flower girls, and ring bearers. “We asked the maid of honor and best “man” (a woman) to pick dresses in our color scheme that they loved, even the junior bridesmaid and flower girls picked out their own dresses. Their smiles walking down the aisle meant more to us than what they were wearing.”

The Moments: Christine and Steve created a highly personalized and spiritual wedding ceremony to honor their families and respective Catholic and Jewish backgrounds. I love all of the the thoughtful and meaningful ideas they incorporated. Upon entering the ceremony, guests dropped fresh herbs at the chuppah with quiet blessings, and each herb’s symbolism was explained during the ceremony. Rosemary to ensure devotion and love, thyme for courage, marjoram to increase happiness. “We stood on the herbs, therefore our loved ones wishes and blessings, the entire ceremony.” Before Christine and her father walked down the aisle, they took a moment to remember her mother who had passed away 6 years earlier. With a piece of her mother’s wedding dress fabric wrapped about her bouquet, she says she was able to “hold onto both her parents.” And one of the most unique wedding ceremony ideas? The celebrant Saral had her back to the audience so that Christine and Steve could look out over all of their loved ones.

For their reception entrance Christine and Steve performed a choreographed dance to Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor,” and it went perfectly. “After such an intimate and sentimental ceremony we wanted to start the reception with a fun surprise for our guests.” Love it!

And when we asked what their best wedding planning decision had been, the answer was simply, “Marrying each other.” Too true!
