Elegant Seattle Wedding at The Ruins – Erin and Adi

Elegant Seattle Wedding at The Ruins – Erin and Adi

Today’s Seattle real wedding of Erin and Adi is sophisticated, inviting and all about family. What fun to see a wedding that was as much about emotion and gratitude as it was visually spectacular. Love every moment, and every photo from La Vie Photography !

Elegant Seattle Wedding at The Ruins – Erin and Adi

The Goals: Erin and Adi celebrated their marriage with eighty of their closest friends and family at the breathtakingly beautiful private Seattle venue, The Ruins . The focus of their wedding was the transformation that would take place on this important day, the joining of two separate families into one. Many guests traveled in from out of state and country, and Erin and Adi’s goal was to be sure their friends and family arrived safely and happily to join in the celebration of their marriage. “We decided on a simple ceremony that allowed us to share our personal vows with one another and express the appreciation we have for all our families have done for us our entire life. We specifically wanted to highlight that our wedding was a symbol of not only us coming together to form a new family, but for both of our families to join and become one.”

The Design: Erin and Adi loved the atmosphere and look of The Ruins so didn’t choose an additional theme or color palette for their wedding. “We knew early on that we did not want to be contained by a single color palette, and that we did not want our wedding defined by colors. When we found the Ruins we knew that the warmth of the venue would be enough.”

The Look: Erin chose a beautiful classic wedding dress from Pronovias , which complimented her personal style perfectly. I am fairly conservative in my personal style and I wanted to be sure I did not stray on my wedding day. I knew I wanted a high-waisted gown with a boatneck collar. I admire the simple elegance of clean lines and soft beauty.Adi and his groomsmen all wore dashing black tuxedos, and Erin’s bridesmaids wore wonderfully simple navy strapless dresses. The most significant piece of Erins wardrobe was a family heirloom rose gold and gem bracelet that Adis mother gave to Erin on the night of their rehearsal dinner. The bracelet has been passed down on Adi’s mother’s side of the family for generations. During the war in Bosnia, Adi’s father escaped from the city risking his life by carrying the bracelet with him and made it out alive and brought the bracelet to Adi’s mother. So incredibly meaningful!

The Moments: One of the most special moments during their wedding day was when Erin and Adi first saw each other. “It became so real what the whole day was all about. Adi and I just stood together in embrace taking in our excitement and love for each other and for the day. During the reception, as Erin and Adi stood in the middle of the dance floor, they loved seeing that all eighty of their friends and family members were building friendships, dancing, and enjoying the festivities. It was exactly as they had hoped for.

It’s part two of our behind the scenes coverage of the Fall 2011 Bridal Market, photographed by Merri Cyr Weddings , and today it’s all about the powerhouse trio of Christos , Kenneth Pool and Amsale . Each of these collections is designed by Amsale Aberra, and each represent a different fashion focus while still maintaining Amsale’s current yet timeless viewpoint. Christos is all about tradition and heirloom quality gowns, Kenneth Pool embraces the glamour and fantasy in wedding fashion, and Amsale is the epitome of modern bridal. The three fashion shows all take place at the ultra mod and spare EZ Studios, and they progress throughout the day in an abundance of fun and wonderfully inspirational style!

Bridal Market – Vera Wang Fall 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

Bridal Market – Vera Wang Fall 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

Always one to push the fashion envelope, Vera Wang’s Fall 2012 wedding dress collection didn’t contain a single wisp of white! Nude and black were the colors of the day, inspired by the concept of “Witchcraft” as well as Vera’s new bi-costal status and the differences in atmosphere between LA and New York. Vera’s dramatic dresses are painstakingly hand-made with layer upon layer of whisper light fabrics, and for the first time ever, chantilly lace. These wedding dresses are nothing short of works of art and I was mesmerized getting to see their construction and detail up close. I can’t wait to see the stylish women who will choose one of these rebellious bridal stunners to walk down the aisle!

How about you, would you forgo wearing white on your wedding day?

Bridal Market – Modern Trousseau Spring 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

Bridal Market – Modern Trousseau Spring 2012 Wedding Dress Collection

Modern Trousseau is one of those wedding dress lines that has an air of natural, laid back elegance to it. Even when constructed with sophisticated laces and fabrics with fashion forward textures like many you see here, the dresses are easy to wear, and easy to love! I saw Modern Trousseau’s Spring 2012 collection in their New York City showroom where designer Callie Tein walked me through each piece and talked of the inspiration she finds by attending trunk shows and working with real brides to see how they react to the fits and styles of the dresses. It was so inspiring to see that level of dedication and attention to detail on behalf of her customers – you!

Modern Photo Studio Wedding in Los Angeles, California – Ellen and Terence

Modern Photo Studio Wedding in Los Angeles, California – Ellen and Terence

Modern wedding style lovers, this one’s for you! Couple Ellen and Terence chose to host their LA wedding at the Helms Daylight Photo Studio in Culver City, and it’s only fitting – the groom Terence is a talented photographer himself ! They had fun using the freedom that this open and airy creative space provided, and incorporated all kinds of personal touches and custom built design elements. Photographer Juan Posada was on hand to document all of the day’s amazing moments, and I love the way he used the photo studio backdrop to capture creative group portraits and photo booth images!

Modern Photo Studio Wedding in Los Angeles, California – Ellen and Terence

From the bride and groom: We found a lot of inspiration for the wedding from the great dining adventures we’ve had together. We wanted the atmosphere to be a little like le Comptoir in Paris, a bit like Beast in Portland, and a lot like hosting friends for dinner in our home: meaning it had to be refined yet rustic and communal yet intimate. Once we settled on our venue, which was essentially a blank canvas, our event planning team went to work in bringing to life our ideas. Michael Kay and Vartan Thekmedyian really took our vision and ran with it so that we didn’t just have literal interpretations of our mood board, but a unique rendering that felt like it was just for us. For instance, Michael’s team custom built the five 32-feet long tables after we showed him a photograph of a salvaged wood table that we loved. Vartan took our request for market lights and instead strung up bare bulbs one at a time, each positioned directly above the head of every-other seated guest and also custom built the chandeliers that were above the dance floor and ceremony area. For party favors, we wanted something practical and usable. We both love to cook with fresh herbs from our garden, so Ellen purchased various herbs, and we packaged them in little tins with jute twine for guests to take home and grow. Instead of using cut flowers, which would die within a few days, we chose succulents for centerpieces, boutonnieres, and as decorations, most of which were snipped from our front yard. We wanted plants that guests could take home and replant in pots. Ellen specifically wanted the plants to be put in vessels of mixed textiles, such as wood, glass, tin, etc., to keep things interesting, so many of the vessels were purchased from thrift stores or flea markets. But the best part was the food. The sweet breads with heirloom tomato bur blanc and beef short ribs with red wine and black figs were such perfect highlights to the meal and really hit the mark in terms of our goal for the dinner service.
